Mission Statement

The mission of the Yakama Nation Museum is to preserve, protect and perpetuate the Mid-Plateau lands and people through out time. We recognize tribes and bands of the Yakama's traditionally, as changed in the 1855 Treaty, and all the Northwest plateau areas. We support our culture, traditions, native resources, art, history and the future as the only museum of the Yakama Nation. We invite all to come in and learn about the Yakamas by the Yakamas.

Our History, Our Legacy...Past to Present

The Yakama Nation Museum opened in 1980 and is one of the oldest Native American Museums in the United States. The 12,0000 square foot exhibition hall is the result of years of hope, thought, and effort on the part of the Yakama people.

You will encounter for the first time the 'Yakama Experience' and 'The Challenge of Spilyay'
